I heard a statement recently that made me think about how young children learn languages, such as English:
“I don’t put Disney movies on because my daughter doesn’t understand them.”
I understood this statement as:
“My daughter doesn’t understand Disney movies because I don’t put on them.”
Children see how language is used and mimic, or copy, what they hear. So, it doesn’t matter if they understand them or not, the animation is wonderful and the action is exciting.
I was surprised at how quickly my children begin to use the language.
